Covid19 artwork idea. If you'd like to be part of my Covid19 art project regarding cultural change then give me permission to utilize your Facebook or Instagram story that you think is relevant or not. I'm happy to get anything and everything and will sort through it. It can be a post, your story, your insights and feelings, news, impact, theories, thoughts, new ideas, poems and imagery etc. If you share a link to me by direct message through social media then you are agreeing and giving permission to me to use the raw footage in some way (video, sound, words, images, feelings etc) to create a video work somehow in any way I choose. ° Fantastic to be selected as a finalist again in the Adelaide Parklands Art Prize 2020 🙏 with this drawing. ° Artist ~ Jan Cleveringa Title ~ 'Untitled 5' (Listening to Trees Series) 2020 / Photo: Artist Drawing . . This drawing is part of the "Listening to Trees" Series of works that are really personally meaningful to me harmonizing and collaborating with nature. . It is a kinetic drawing where I collaborate with the environment to produce art made between the natural environment and human beings as a model for understanding our place and our culture. I use experimental mark making processes in the tradition of abstraction where the artist hand is still at work and so is the natural environment. I get impressions, communications and a conversation back from the environment. I've been experimenting in varied ways since my residencies at BigCi Bilpin and Gunyah, Central Coast. This current work forms part of my wider practice which is based around 'cultural change' including sustainability. It sits alongside my installation art and painting which have recently won major prizes at Scenic Sculpture and Eden Unearthed. ° Artist ~ Jan Cleveringa Title ~ 'Untitled 3' (Recycled Paper Series) 2020 01 15 / Photo: Artist Collage. . This collage is part of the "Recyled Paper Series" of works which has multiple messages around sustainability and the broader multiple contexts of the artist's practice. That is, understanding and enlisting cultural change processes alongside the political and the theoretical tradition of art aesthetics and critical practice semantics. The artist's 'range of series of works', for which this series belongs to, is part of a hyperconformism to the fractured nature of our times. One thats has multiple purposes like an action learning research perspective enmeshed within and without classification. It is a purposed work where the artist enlists the will of gravity using paper and the semiotics of the material to demonstrate a continual change or a slow movement of the falling paper. The artist is collaborating with 'natural forces' and 'periods of time' as the work unfolds its potential to change over time, 'behind glass', like the metaphoric barriers separating the inside from the outside world. Or the 'us and them' or any other dialectic way of thinking. What message can this send? Interestingly, the forces of nature apply to both sides of the supposed separation of both worlds and a viewer can see through the barrier. The artist collaborates with the environment to produce art made between the natural environment and the human world as a model for understanding our place and our culture. The artist gets impressions, communications and a conversation back from the environment. Using humour the artwork is about how it's framed. Boom boom. Furthermore, the material is hand ripped by the artist and are mostly used toilet rolls.
