Cleveringa has been awarded several tendered community grants and public art projects which culminate in public artworks as part of his belief in supporting the community and utilizing the arts. It’s more than just art; it’s about relationships and communicating utilizing group-work, care and about supporting each other. It’s about being proud of achieving something and making the community environment vibrant and valued.
Cleveringa likes to ‘break new ground’ for workshop participants (and also for his own practice) by developing experimental art workshops and exploring new aspects of the arts with the community. This way, participants can get excited and it ensures a feeling of belonging and a sense of achievement. This art might range from experimenting with photography on phones, doing mosaic murals, painting murals to sculpture and art installations.
